This tour takes you through all sorts of different scenery ranging between hilly countryside, river meadows and mountainous terrain. It really is a unique experience. The Inn river connects the Tyrolean Oberland, the Lower Inn Valley, Upper and Lower Bavaria as well as the Austrian Innviertel altogether.
You leave the Tyrolean capital behind and cycle through picturesque towns and villages to Strass at the entrance to the Zillertal. Enjoy the breathtaking mountain panorama and take time for the old town of Hall and the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens. Take the train from Brixlegg to Kufstein.
You cycle to the national border and after the custom office at Windshausenthe cycle path runs along the dam almost all the way to Rosenheim. Afterwards you bike through smaller provincial towns to Wasserburg.
Today you cycle past castles and palaces via Gars, Kraiburg and St. Erasmus to Mühldorf am Inn. Typical of the townscape of Mühldorf is its main square, which is surrounded by beautiful middle-class houses partly dating back to the 15thand 16thcentury.
Via Töging you bike today to Marktl. Next you pass the confluence of the rivers Inn and Salzach to Braunau am Inn. Worth seeing is the beautifully restored old town, the city tower from the 13th century and the parish church with the third highest steeple of Austria.
This section leads through the Lower Inn European Reserve. The floodplain landscape with its exceptional plant diversity is a breeding ground for numerous water birds. A little away from the river you will reach Bad Füssing. Enjoy the huge health and wellness offer.
Via the 1000-year old town of Obernberg and Reichersberg, where the cloister garden of the Augustinian Monastery invites you for a stay, the cycle path leads you into the Baroque city of Schärding and further to Passau.
